Plastic Pollution

Here at Beeswax Wraps we are on a mission to reduce plastic use and pollution. Our oceans and environments are drowning in plastic pollution and we want to be a positive change.

In response to plastic waste damaging ecosystems and reaching the food chain in early 2018 we founded Plastic Free Macroom. We help our local town, Macroom to become a leader in a plastic free future, by offering free consultancy and cost analysis on eco-friendly alternatives to plastics.

Currently we are working with Refill Ireland to support businesses’ participation in the refill.ie initiative where people can access a comprehensive network of tap water refill stations. We are partnering with TerraCycle which aims to Eliminate the Idea of Waste® by recycling the “non-recyclable.” Whether it’s coffee capsules from your home, pens from a school, crisps packets or plastic gloves from a manufacturing facility.

We also educate local businesses, groups and schools – we support ‘Green-Schools’ – Ireland͛’s leading environmental management and award programme and help local schools achieve their flag for the Litter & Waste theme. We have stopped balloon releases, been involved in clean ups, been invited to do radio interviews and encouraged recycled and eco-friendly alternatives.

We now stock stainless steel straws in a cute save our oceans cotton pouch. Straws are one of the most common plastic pollution found washed up on beachs all over the world. Every small step helps.
